About the Artist:
Claude Monet (1840–1926) was the founding figure of French Impressionism, celebrated for his lifelong dedication to capturing light, atmosphere, and the transient beauty of nature. His experimental brushwork and luminous palette transformed how modern art approached perception and reality. In his later career, Monet focused almost exclusively on the water garden he cultivated at his home in Giverny, producing the celebrated Water Lilies series that became a cornerstone of modern art.

About the Artwork:
The Water Lilies paintings, created between the 1890s and 1920s, depict Monet’s garden pond in ever-changing conditions of light and season. In these works, the water’s surface becomes a mirror of sky and foliage, dissolving traditional perspective into floating patches of color and reflection. The lilies, with their delicate blossoms, punctuate the shifting blues, greens, and violets of the pond, creating a meditative balance between stillness and movement. This series marked a turning point in art history, influencing generations of modern and abstract painters for its immersive and atmospheric qualities.

Why We Selected It:
We chose Water Lilies because it represents the pinnacle of Impressionism and the universal poetry of nature. Its serene palette and luminous reflections bring tranquility and elegance into any setting, while also carrying the weight of cultural legacy as one of the most iconic bodies of work in Western art. More than decoration, it is an invitation to pause, reflect, and immerse oneself in beauty.
